WAUSAU, Wisconsin (WSAW) –
Expect a fantastic and fantastic start to the weekend, as plenty of sunny weather returns, as do much warmer temperatures. After a chilly start on Saturday morning, temperatures will soar into the 70s for Saturday and the 80s for Sunday… appropriate, for the last weekend of summer. (Autumn begins Wednesday at 2:20 p.m.)
The next chance for showers and thunderstorms will arrive Monday afternoon and evening with stronger storms possible, especially in southern Wisconsin in the early evening. For those heading to Lambeau Field on Monday night for the Packers game, you’ll want to make sure you pack rain gear, as showers and storms will spread across the Green Bay area in the early evening. Go Pack Go!
As the showers and thunderstorms ease a bit for Tuesday, much cooler air will quickly seep into Wisconsin with daytime highs falling into the lower 60s for the middle of next week. As mentioned, fall begins on Wednesday and the high temperatures will struggle to stay in the lower 60s for this afternoon. Additionally, nightly lows will sometimes begin to recede in the 1930s and parts of the Northwoods * may * see their first freezing temperatures of the season early Thursday morning.
